Blog of the Year 2012 Award 02 & 03

How nice to wake up Christmas Day and, because of time difference, find that I was awarded with another Blog of the Year 2012 award, this time from Chef Doru. Thank you so much!

If that wasn’t enough I woke up today, Boxing Day, to find that I’ve been nominated again, this time from the charming Fae of Fae’s Twist & Tango. I really can’t thank them both enough for these. I’m thrilled with them (as well as all of the other awards, most of which I still haven’t managed to accept – working on it!) and more than happy to pass on the awards. Especially as certain blogs kept popping into my head the first time I was awarded this. Then, I ended up going a different route as there were too many blogs jumping to mind. So I went with blogs that had changed my way of thinking toward certain ingredients and those that prompted me into trying new things. This time I’m going with the blogs that spring to mind, although several of the blogs I’d like to nominate haven’t posted since August. Hmm…

This time I’m going with my nominations (alphabetically) first with rules about the awards at end of post:

All the Love- Without the Wheat
RECIPES, DISCOVERIES, AND MUSINGS IN A LOW-CARB, GRAIN-FREE LIFE STYLE is how Gretchen describes her blog. As I’m only intolerant to wheat I can manage some pasta (have to weigh it first) and a slice of bread occasionally. If, however, I gorge on lots of wheat based foods I suffer – to the extent I could’ve belched for Britain during the last Olympics and won gold. So, it’s incredibly useful knowing of alternatives.

Back Road Journal
Karen describes her blog as: Little treasures discovered while exploring the back roads of life. Again, this is another blog that’s beautifully written with posts about food and travel (I think it’s fair to say). I’d be hard pressed to find a typo, to the extent I wouldn’t even bother to look for one. Unlike my comments, sometimes. Yikes!

Foodie Baker (AKA FOOD IS MY LIFE)
Jasline’s step-by-step photos are as sensational as her recipes (yes, I’m positively going green with envy!). And I’m certain I will learn lots from Jasline’s amazing cakes, desserts and savouries – if I ever arm myself with the necessary baking implements! Sighs…really must. Especially as I’m constantly reading posts on fabulous cakes and desserts. Drool…

Jodi Ambrose’s Blog
Proud to be a sass-mouth! That’s what Jodi states! Believe me, Jodi doesn’t mince her words and says it like it should be. However, be warned! If you don’t care for expletives…I’m British, so I’m perfectly used to it. Jodi is a professional writer, I think it’s fair to say. Including within the publishing world of recipe and/or cook books. Seriously, out of all of you Jodi’s the only one that’s published? Hmm…I think it’s about time several of you shoved some of the big names outta the way (excepting Jodi, off course!).

Until finding blog addresses within Reader (for this post) I hadn’t remembered that m&m was the first to follow me on WP. However, that’s not the reason for nominating. Rather, it’s m&m’s love of Italian cuisine, like several other nominations, that I find inspiring. And love the fact I’m learning about Italian cuisine – at last.

Mon Food Blog
As Dr Dan states within About Me: When I don’t work, I cook. Mostly Italian. This is the third blog that I’m nominating where their influence (I think it’s fair to say) is Italian food. Bring it on! Especially as I didn’t know a lot about Italian food before I started my blog on here.

My French Heaven
Stéphane’s blog is to do with Cuisine, Design & Joie de Vivre, and believe me it’s exactly that and more. Always beautifully presented and in perfect English and French (well, my French is so awful these days I wouldn’t really know!). Anyway, I love Stéphane’s style, recipes, photography and his witticisms (if I’m allowed to say that). I do believe Stéphane probably is the greatest host (and I’m secretly hoping I can learn how to be from his blog!). It’ll never happen…apologies, Stéphane. Not even you could help!

Real italian dish
Albertocook is the only Italian man (as far as I’m aware) I’m following that does really nice authentic, and I think, regional food. Even though certain ingredients aren’t readily available here in the UK. Regardless, I’m thrilled that I’m learning about authentic Italian food for the first time.

The Charmed Cupcake
Angela, Ange or Angie – whatever suits their personality (Angie’s own description – and I used to love The Rolling Stones song back then) states: CUPCAKES ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF A BALANCED DIET within the header. In my case I’m definitely unbalanced. Having said that I did catch myself eyeing up a muffin tin or tray (don’t even know the name) recently. Reading all of these delicious posts is having an effect, regardless of how subliminally. I’m going to have to look for a starter baking kit during the January sales (no, I’m not talking suitable for children. Although, chances are I’d prefer their colours!).

Christine states: Everything Food from a Perky Personal Chef’s Perspective. And I definitely agree with this: who is out to prove that healthy does not have to mean hippy dirt & bark tasting food. Hoping Christine won’t mind my copying and pasting all of that! Anyway, this is another blog that has great step-by-step photos and lots of detail leaving these recipes foolproof, I would’ve thought.

Here are some rules that will help you understand how this award works:

1. Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3. Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award ( and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!).

4. Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.

5. You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience.

6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Badges
Here are the six badges for you to collect – you can either ‘swop’ your badge for the next one each time you are given the award – or even proudly display all six badges if you are lucky enough to be presented with the award six times! ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award
